According to a recent Yahoo News story, Christian Bale--the star of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight--was arrested today on charges of assaulting his mom and sister.
I cannot help but be surprised by this revelation. I never imagined him as the type of person that would be abusive to women. He always seems very mild-mannered and classy, both on and off-camera. He is a talented actor, and let's hope that this predicament is merely an exaggeration, and really not as serious as the press is making it out to be.
Update: According to anIMDB article, Bale's attorneys released the following statement:
"Christian Bale attended a London police station today, on a voluntary basis, in order to assist with an allegation that had been made against him to the police by his mother and sister. Mr. Bale who denies the allegation, co-operated throughout, gave his account in full of the events in question, and has left the station without any charge being made against him by the police. At this time, there will be no further comment by Mr. Bale."
